"The United Nations Special Procedures System" Book Launch

On Monday 25 September, Professor Thérèse Murphy’s latest book, co-edited with Aoife Nolan and Rosa Freedman, was launched at the Library of the UN Office at Geneva. The book focuses on the UN Special Procedures system, which is a crucial part of the United Nations work to protect and promote human rights.

The launch was held in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva. It featured opening remarks from the Ambassador, followed by an interactive discussion involving key players within the Special Procedures system.

Thérèse has recently developed her work on the Special Procedures by completing a chapter on the relationship between the Special Procedures system and global health. The chapter, which was co-written by Dr Amrei Müller, the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellow within the School’s Health & Human Rights Unit, will be published in early 2018 in a collection edited by two US scholars, Larry Gostin and Ben Mason Meier.
