County Antrim Grand Jury Bursaries | For legal research/studies involving visits outside Northern Ireland
Bursaries of up to £1,500 are awarded on an annual basis to meet expenses and travel from the County Antrim Grand Jury Bursary Fund.
Applications are invited for the 2013 bursaries from the County Antrim Grand Jury Bursary Fund. These bursaries are open for:
(i) any matriculated student registered in the School of Law, or
(ii) any graduate of the School of Law who is:
(a) pursuing postgraduate legal studies, or
(b) undertaking training to become a solicitor or barrister within the United Kingdom, or
(c) is a member of the Inn of Court of Northern Ireland or of one of the Inns of Court in England and Wales.
PROVIDED THAT the applicant at the date of an award must have his or her normal residence within County Antrim.*
The bursaries are intended to assist in meeting expenses (including the cost of purchasing books) incurred or to be incurred by the applicant in visiting any place outside Northern Ireland in connection with his/her legal studies. The purpose of the visit must be approved by the School of Law as being likely to advance those studies.
Applications giving full particulars of present status, of proposed legal studies, and a copy of one relevant written reference, should be forwarded before 20 March 2013 to the Head of School of Law, Queen’s University, Belfast BT7 1NN.
* The trustees have decided, with a view to encouraging a greater number of applications, to consider applications from any person who can satisfy criteria (i) and (ii) above. Preference may be given to persons with a County Antrim normal residence as shown in the map of 1969 in 29 GO2 University Square. But this is no longer a condition for the making of an award.
Up to £1500 could be awarded from this fund.
