Biography
After practising at the Bar of Northern Ireland for five years David Capper was appointed to the post of Lecturer in Law at Queen's University Belfast in 1989 and and was promoted to Reader in June 2002. In 1990-91 he was Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan, USA. He is the Queen's University constituency representative on the council of the Society of Legal Scholars in Great Britain and Ireland and was a member 1995-2001 (vice-chair 1997-2001) of the Lord Chancellor's Legal Aid Advisory Committee for Northern Ireland. He also serves as a lay member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland's Insolvency Licensing Committee and is company secretary of SLS Legal Publications (NI) Ltd. From 1996-98 he was Assistant Editor of the Northern Ireland Legal Quarterly and since May 2001 has been Editor of that journal.
