Biography
Onder Bakircioglu joined the lecturing staff at Queen’s in September 2008. He obtained his LLB Degree from the University of Istanbul. He also holds an MA degree in “Human Rights and Democratization” from the University of Malta/Utrecht and an LLM degree in “International Human Rights Law” from the University of Essex. He has finalised his PhD at the University College Cork. While doing his PhD he also taught at undergraduate level. He is currently working on a monograph entitled the Right to War in the Islamic Tradition: Jihad and its Compatibility with Modern International Law. Onder’s research focuses upon the use of private and international self-defence, war and terror, just war doctrine in Islamic and Christian traditions and human rights.
