Prof Mathioudakis main interests are in the field of solar and stellar astophysics. He uses spectroscopic and imaging techniques for his work. Current topics of research include : Oscillatory phenomena in solar and stellar atmospheres, chromospheric and coronal heating processes, rapid variations and flares. He uses a wide range of international astronomical facilities including telescopes in Europe, USA, and South America. He is currently working on the construction of the state-of-the-art Rapid Oscillations in the Solar Atmosphere (ROSA) instrument that will be delivered to the National Solar Observatory USA in the summer of 2008.
