Research Interests: Quantum Information Theory, Entanglement, Quantum Phase Transitions, Spin Chains, Ultracold Atoms and Ions, Strongly Correlated Systems, Open Quantum Systems, Optimal Control Theory, Density Matrix Renormalization Group.
After graduating in Palermo (Italy), I received my PhD in Physics in 2006 from Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa (Italy). I was a postdoctoral fellow in the BEC-center in Trento (Italy), in the Quantum Optics group and subsequently in the Quantum Information group of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Spain) where I was a Juan de la Cierva fellow. In 2011 I joined Queen's University of Belfast as a Lecturer.
