Welcome to Translation and Interpreting at Queen’s
As the world becomes increasingly globalised and as multilingualism is increasingly recognised as a key component of our global citizenship, translation and interpreting continue to offer real and exciting prospects for future employment at the highest professional levels.
We offer two MAs – the MA in Translation and the MA in Interpreting.
What they have in common is a commitment to real-world practice that is supported by a thorough understanding of the theoretical issues that form the basis on which practical decisions are made. They are taught in a friendly and supportive environment in which students benefit from language-specific classes and personalised attention.
Translating and Interpreting, however, also involve very different knowledge-bases and skillsets, and for that reason we strongly recommend that anyone with a professional interest in either area should not consider a combined degree.

"I found the MA in Translation course excellent. My practical skills as a translator are now informed by the theoretical and I am much more confident and linguistically aware. The teaching was very enjoyable, both from department staff and from visiting lecturers. It was highly appreciated by our group, which included many international students."
