Welcome to Translation at Queen’s   

We offer a broad-based programme in the theory and practice of translation that is designed both to equip students with the skills necessary to work at the highest professional levels or to undertake further study.Many of our past graduates, with whom we maintain contact via LinkedIn, are now working as professional translators (in-house and freelance), project managers, editors, subtitlers and terminologists. Others have undertaken doctoral work in a variety of areas related to translation – film subtitling and audio description, theatre translation, translation of children’s television, etc.In broad terms, the MA in Translation offers:

  • a variety of practical and theoretical modules, allowing students to mix and match to suit their own special interests
  • work placement and business tuition (including the Certificate in Entrepreneurial Skills)
  • tuition in translation technologies
  • a weekly programme of visiting speakers, featuring some of the best-known academics and practitioners in the world 

The MA in Translation is offered in a broad range of language pairs with English as the native or foreign language.
