A French Studies Postgraduate Conference, organised by French Studies at Queen's University Belfast with the support of the Arts and Humanities Research Council

Friday 16th and Saturday 17th May 2008

CALL FOR PAPERS

Although the notion of exchange between individuals and societies is often associated with the transaction of material goods, it can equally apply to other interactive modes, be they of a symbolic, ideological, linguistic or philosophical nature.  We invite proposals for 20 minute papers, in French or English, which interpret the conference theme as widely as possible.  The following list, which is neither prescriptive nor exhaustive, may serve as inspiration:

  • Theories of Exchange/Exchange of Ideas
  • Substitutions, replacements
  • Textual/Visual interactions
  • Bodily exchange
  • Verbal and/or linguistic exchanges
  • Giving and receiving
  • Exchange of correspondence
  • Translation studies
  • Cultural encounters

    Abstract proposals (c. 300 words) should be forwarded to the conference organising committee at qubfrenchconference@gmail.com as a Microsoft Word attached document that includes your name, institution and email address.  You should also indicate on your proposal any audiovisual requirements you may have.

    The deadline for all applications is Friday 11th January 2008
