Sharon Arbuthnot is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen (MA, Hons, 1995; PhD 1999). She has worked previously as a lecturer at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and at the University of Aberdeen, and as a researcher on the AHRC-funded ‘Early Irish Glossaries’ project at the University of Cambridge. She has also held a British Academy Postdoctoral Research Fellowship.
Her principal research interests lie in the areas of lexicography and medieval Isidorian etymology, compiled texts and the compilatory process, and fíanaigecht literature. She has published a two-volume work on the medieval Irish text, Cóir Anmann, co-edited two collections of essays, and produced a number of articles. She is currently preparing an edition of the glossary Dúil Dromma Cetta.
