Leonardo Boscarin was born in Santiago, Chile, where he studied and worked as a Sound Technician and Screenwriter.
In 1995 he moved to Italy were he completed a Degree (5 years) in Latin American Literature at the University of Bologna. His thesis dealt with the work of Chilean (anti) poet Nicanor Parra. There, whilst regularly frequenting the Cinemateca, he attended a workshop in Translation and started a collaboration with some Chilean newspapers and magazines on Literature, Cinema and Culture.
He moved to Belfast in 2005 and completed a MA on Gender in the Mexican Melodrama of the 40s.
He is currently carrying on a PhD. on the Secret Pact, the implicit mechanism which linked State, Audience and Directors in Post Revolutionary Mexico.
Currently he is interested in the representation of the body and the voice in the filmic image and in new readings on the Gramscian concept of hegemony.
