If you would like to find out more about studying Modern Languages at Queen’s, we would be delighted to see you at one of our open days. Queen’s organises university-wide open days in July and September, and the School hosts events specifically for students of Modern Languages in January, February and March.
In early July and early September, prospective students are invited to visit the University. This gives you an opportunity to find out more about the course you are interested in, the great facilities on offer here at Queen’s and to experience the vibrancy of Belfast as a capital city. You’ll also have an opportunity to come and visit the School of Modern Languages and to meet staff and current students. For information on these Open Days, click here.
French Studies, Spanish and Portuguese Studies and Irish and Celtic Studies at Queen’s organise combined AS-level study days for students from schools across Northern Ireland each January. These events focus on practical language skills and techniques relevant to current AS curricula and the topics students will be studying, give sixth-form students an insight into language study at university, and highlight the world of opportunities a degree in Modern Languages opens up. The programme for January 2013 has been released and you can find full details by clicking here. A more detailed programme will be given with the student packs on the day.
If you apply to study a Modern Language at Queen’s and receive an offer from us, we will invite you to come to one of our UCAS days in February and March. These days give you an opportunity to gain a more in-depth insight into the degree courses we offer and to find out about teaching in the School and the academic and pastoral support that we and the University offer, and about the careers opportunities that are available to languages graduates. You’ll also get a chance to visit our superb library, accommodation and sports facilities, and to get a flavour of what living and studying in Belfast will be like. And as well as meeting our friendly team of academic staff, you’ll also have the opportunity to meet our current students and to find out about their experiences of studying in the School of Modern Languages.
If you are unable to attend the Open Days or UCAS days, and would like to visit us, the Admissions Office can arrange a Campus tour and will also arrange a meeting with someone from the School of Modern Languages. Click here for more information.
