Our programmes are carefully designed with successful careers in mind. As a result, over 95% of our graduates are in employment or further education within 6 months. You will spend 50% of your undergraduate time on placement with one of our local, national or international partners, gaining a wide range of experience in many different settings. The latest research and legislative requirements are continually applied to your learning, ensuring that you will enter the workplace fully prepared for the challenges ahead.
We also deliver a structured careers support service throughout the undergraduate programmes, with training on how to present yourself to a prospective employer and how best to describe your skills on an application form. There is an annual Careers Day for final year students where you will meet prospective employers: from NHS trusts to private providers and armed forces, there is a wide range of career paths to choose from.

Once you graduate, there is a diverse range of career opportunities available within the NHS and private sector, both in the UK and overseas. And we will be with you all the way, offering training to help you hone your skills and steer your career in whatever direction you choose. Whether it’s an MSc to help you progress to leadership roles, training to help you flourish in a specialism, or a career in Research or Education, we can help.
You can take up some of our post-registration programmes as part of the commissioning cycle – ask your employer if you can become involved. But you don’t have to wait – each programme is available to you as part of the University’s part time learning offering and you can access them independently. And don’t forget - these programmes deliver practical skills as well as depth of knowledge, so you will quickly see improvements in your skill level and your confidence.
Whether it’s a short course over a few months, or our ground-breaking Doctorate in Nursing or Midwifery Practice programmes, it makes sense to invest in your career. Click here for more details on the career development opportunities awaiting you!
