I can't see my placement on Queen's on-line
You must agree to your allocation being displayed on the web. This is done by accessing QOL, clicking on Clinical Allocations which will then display a form on which you are able to give permission for your placement details to be viewed on-line.
What do I do if I am absent from placement?
Firstly ring the ward and inform them of this and secondly ring the School sickline on 02890 972192.
Do I have to make up sick days?
Yes, even if it is only 1 day it has to be made up.
How do I claim back travel expenses?
Fill in a Travel Claim Form with any receipts attached. They are available from the carousel outside the Clinical Allocations hatch or can be downloaded here. Leave the form into the Clinical Allocations Unit where it will be signed and sent to bursaries.
How many hours am I required to work on placement?
All placements are normally 37.5 hours per week.
Will I have to do night duty?
Placements cover different shift patterns, and can start at 7.45 am, can finish late in the evening, can be night shift, will be weekends. You must be able to meet all of these demands.
Do I get bank holidays off?
No - unless the area you are placed in is closed.
What holidays do I get?
Placements take place throughout the year; you won't get 3 months off in the summer like other students. Annual leave is timetabled into the course design and cannot be changed.
Who should I contact if I have a problem when on placement?
Contact the link lecturer or mentor in the first instance.
How do I find out who my link lecturer is?
When you access your clinical allocations on-line double click on the ward you are allocated. This will bring up information on the ward Phone Number, and Address. It will also give you the name of the link lecturer, email address and phone number.
