Queen's Advice
Queen's has one of the highest records of academic achievement coupled with a noble tradition of over one hundred and fifty years of excellence of research and teaching.
International Students Overview
A three-day orientation programme is held during the week preceding the start of the first semester in late September. A second smaller programme is also held in late January. Both these programmes give new students the opportunity to meet the staff of the International Office, other academic and administrative staff, Students' Union representatives and other students.
Information is also provided on adjusting to university academic study, life in university accommodation, living expenses and local immigration requirements. The programmes include tours of the university's academic and recreational facilities and the City of Belfast. These programmes have proved very popular. They help new students to adapt to university life at Queen's.
Prior to the orientation programmes, a 'Meeting and Greeting' service is provided both at Belfast International Airport, George Best Belfast City Airport and at the University Halls of Residence. Free transportation is provided on certain days from the airports for all new international students. These welcome programmes are run in collaboration with the International Friendship Association.
Queen's International Office
The staff in the International Office have special responsibility for looking after the needs of international students
and for helping them adjust to a different way of life.
Student Services
As well as the normal system of advisers and tutors, the University has a comprehensive student support service.
