Dr Trisha Forbes

Chronic Illness and Palliative Care

My research has mainly focused on suicide and mental health, predominantly among young people. My PhD inquiry explored young people’s perceptions of suicide in an area of Northern Ireland, and their feelings of connectedness to the community.

I have previously worked on projects exploring the community’s response to suicide, and young people’s pathway through mental health services in Northern Ireland. I am currently working under the mentorship of Dr Karen Galway on an MRC Proximity to Discovery funded project, ‘Adapting digital social prescribing for suicide bereavement support.
