Entrance Requirements for MPharm Honours Degree
(UCAS Code: B230 MPharm/PMY)
Due to the professional nature of the MPharm course, any offer made will be conditional on a satisfactory Access NI check and registration with the Independent Safeguarding Authority. On admission to the programme all students will be required to sign a statement agreeing to abide by the General Pharmaceutical Council/Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland's Code of Conduct and the University's Fitness to Practise Regulations as applied to Pharmacy Students.
Applicants should be aware that an impairment due to a health condition may make it impossible for a student to graduate with an accredited degree.
HOME AND EU APPLICANTS
A-level
Irish Leaving Certificate
A1 A1 (Biology and Chemistry) A1 B2 B2 B2 at Higher Level.
English and Mathematics are required at Ordinary Level, if not taken at Higher Level.
Scottish Highers
Candidates will normally be required to be completing a minimum of two Advanced Higher subjects including Chemistry and one from Biology (preferred), Mathematics or Physics. Where offers are made the normal target is AB-AA and performance in Scottish Highers will be taken into account when determining this.
Standard Grade (3 or better) in English, Mathematics and Biology are required if not taken at Higher Level.
Graduate Entry
A minimum of an Upper Second Class Honours degree, preferably in a relevant subject. Those with an Upper Second Class Honours degree in a non-relevant subject may be considered if they have the appropriate science background at GCSE and A-level.
Mature Students
The same requirements to those listed above apply.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
Applications from international students are welcomed and in common with all other universities, should be submitted through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (www.ucas.com). International students are not counted as part of the intake quota and therefore slightly different requirements apply.
A-levels
ABB at A-level including Chemistry and at least one from Biology, Mathematics and Physics.
OR
BBB at A-level including Chemistry and at least one from Biology, Mathematics and Physics plus B in a fourth AS-level subject.
GCSE Mathematics and either Biology or Double Award Science at Grade C or better are required if not offered at AS level or A-level.
International Baccalaureate
Successful completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a total of 33 points including 6,6,5 in Higher Level subjects including Chemistry and at least one from Biology, Mathematics and Physics. Standard level Biology and Mathematics or equivalent are required if not taken at Higher Level.
Canadian and Australian High School qualifications are also welcomed.
In addition to the above, international applicants must have an acceptable English Language qualification, e.g. IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 580.
