It takes a minimum of six years of study combined with professional experience to become a fully qualified architect. This involves completing a series of courses approved by the Royal Institute of British Architects(RIBA), the professional body of architecture in the UK. The three stages you need to complete are RIBA part 1,2 and 3. We provide degree courses validated by the RIBA and the ARB(Architect’s Registration Board) to provide exemption from all of these stages.
These are:
RIBA Part 1 BSc(Hons) Architecture
RIBA Part 2 Masters in Architecture (MArch)
RIBA Part 3 Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice
The staged nature of the courses provides every student with a variety of career path.
Although primarily intended as a first degree for those wishing to undertake postgraduate studies and become professionally qualified architects, the course offers a wide-ranging general education in design, visual appreciation and problem solving which is valuable in its own right. Although a much higher proportion of our graduates progress to being registered architects, a certain number of our graduates do diversify and move outwards into related careers and roles. They may work in stage set design, town planning or housing policy, conservation of historic buildings, interiors, furniture design or specialist building physics such as acoustics.
