QUB’s world-renowned wave power research team has contributed to the development of three prototype wave power devices including ‘Oyster’ - originally designed at QUB – and ‘Seagen’, for which QUB has conducted model tests of some recent developments and monitoring of environmental  impacts of the  machine in Strangford Lough.  Projects on offer address new variants of present machines, understanding of design loads, characterisation of wave climates and tidal streams, hydrodynamic modelling and foundation design.
