Welcome to Planning at Queen's

Planning has been taught at the University for five decades making it the oldest planning school in Ireland and we offer a wider range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes than any other institution on the island.

We are also one of the fastest growing schools in the UK and have dramatically strengthened our research performance and staffing levels in the last five years. We pride ourselves on teaching and research excellence and have created a supportive environment for both students and researchers.

What is Planning?

Planning Video

Planning is about giving spatial expression to sustainable development, particularly in the built environment. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in public concern about the declining quality of many aspects of the environment and how it impacts on social and economic conditions. Planning seeks to provide a long-term, sustainable future based on interventions in land use and development, including housing, economic regeneration, transport, nature conservation and urban design.

"The BSc in Environmental Planning offers an attractive, informative course presenting extensive perspectives on local and European planning. It provides opportunities to expand areas of specific interest and has various routes to professional accreditation"
