Thesis

My PhD research concentrates on the factors responsible for the outbreak of inter ethnic conflict in Fyr.Macedonia and the ways these factors continue to affect the course of the Peace Process. The theme I have set to explore begins with a question on the ways external and internal variables (conflict generating factors) contributed to the escalation of interethnic conflict into a violent crisis. In turn, I set to investigate the impact these very same variables have on the implementation of the Peace Accord. The core thesis holds that a number of security and geopolitcal variables, the so -called 'conflict generating factors' (external and internal)will continue to affect the peace process, thus impeding any meaningful efforts for resolving the conflict.

Areas of Research

My major research interests are on regional security, ethnic conflict and the management of peace processes, militant nationalism and terrorism.
