Research
My research is aimed at proposing a discourse-centred theory of rationality. Central to this proposed theory is a Kantian self-image wherein judgement is taken as a defining feature of our understanding. This judgement-centric self-image is then married to a scheme of interpersonal discourse modelled upon a synthesis of Davidson’s radical interpretation, Brandom’s deontic scorekeeping account of discourse and Habermas’ theory of communicative action.
That my account uses some of the thoughts of some very influential and extremely current thinkers, and yet is motivated by a Kantian self-image demonstrates Kant’s enduring legacy in the world of philosophical thought.
