Teaching Areas

European History; History of the Reformations; European Identity.

Tutorial Co-authored with Mark Greengrass: 'The Protestant Reformation. Religious Change and the People of Sixteenth-Century Europe'. On-line access for QUB students. (Access to the courseware is limited to Queens campus. For access off campus please apply to Dr Dixon for username and password.)

Research Interests

His research examines the development of confessional identity in early modern Europe, especially in Germany, and the history and the historiography of Protestantism. He is the recipient of research funding from the British Academy and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. In 2002 he was the recipient of a Humboldt Fellowship and lectured on British history at the University of Vienna.
