Study Abroad

Opportunities for study abroad

Studying abroad can enrich your life and enhance your career prospects. The School encourages all of its undergraduate students to consider spending a period of study abroad in their final year. The School has exchange agreements with a range of universities, both in Europe and the US.

Click here for some good news about the way that participating in an Erasmus exchange can enhance your prospects!

"Choosing Erasmus was the best adventure I have ever been on! A once in a life time opportunity to meet new people and make friends from all over the world in a new city. The Erasmus culture and community is such an exciting thing to experience and one that will stay with me forever. The opportunities for travelling, parties, and to learn and study from new and intruiging perspectives is second to none."

Calum Mackenzie - Erasmus exchange with the University of Warsaw, 2013.

EUROPE: EU Socrates-Erasmus Programme

You don't necessarily have to speak another European language to spend a semester at one of our partner institutions in Europe. Many European universities offer courses in English, and you can brush up your language skills (or discover them for the first time!) while you're there.

See here for the background to the Erasmus programme as well as students' experiences of studying abroad.

See here for details about how to apply

Internationalisation is a central part of the University's mission and student exchanges are a key feature of this. In 2014 the Times Higher Education Supplement ranked Queens as one of the 25 most international universities in the world.

Currently, the School has exchange arrangements with a range of partner institutions across Europe. See the links below for further information about studying abroad:

Study USA (formerly BEI)

The BEI Programme has undergone a change of name to the Study USA Programme but still involves 12 months studying business-related courses at a U.S. church-affiliated university or college. Places are available at one of over 100 institutions from Florida to Montana or California to North Carolina. Study USA is open to full-time pre-final year students of any discipline, including all PISP UG programmes.

Study USA is accredited under the Degree Plus Award through the US Certificate in American Business Practice and well regarded by graduate employers.

See the British Council website for application details, and here for information for QUB students.

The University's Exchange and Study Abroad Office also have lots of information about other options for gaining experience in working and studying abroad: click here for details.
