Welcome to the Practice Learning webpage
The purpose of this resource is to provide easily accessible and useful information about a range of practice learning opportunities, and to help students best prepare for their practice learning opportunity.
Work underpinning the development of this resource was undertaken over three phases: The first phase of the project involved filming 19 students, talking about their experiences of practice learning across a range of settings and service user groups. They can be accessed via the ‘student experiences of practice learning’ link. The second phase of the project involved the development of this webpage, which was undertaken by Eyad Abu-Khiran (Computer Officer, School of Sociology, Social Policy and Social Work). The third phase involved filming five experienced practice teachers, sharing their expectations of students in relation to induction and supervision, and offering some insight into the range of learning opportunities that may be available across agency settings and service user groups. These videos can be accessed via the ‘Practice Teachers’ expectations of students’ link. The project was supported by two awards from the Queen’s Annual Fund and the video clips were professionally filmed and edited by Amanda McKittrick (Video Services Manager / Educational Media Producer at QUB). This webpage will continue to be developed as a resource for students and practice teachers and will include PLO resources, recommended reading and guidance on PLO preparation.
