SPY3002 Policy Briefing Paper
For this module participants research a contemporary social policy issue in liaison with a voluntary agency. The Northern Ireland Science Shop is contacted by community and voluntary groups looking for help about policy issues which are of concern to them. You choose one of these requests and produce a briefing paper for the requesting agency. Participants meet twice a week with the module convenor. Aside from Workshops on key aspects of the work are provided, participants will provide presentations on their findings.

A social policy analysis of health and social care issues - examining contemporary developments in health and social care policy in the UK. Topics include financing health, structures for delivering health and social care, inequality and health, strategies for health, current government policies.
Assessment: Essay: 50%; Exam 50%
