I am currently a second year PhD student, studying the Irish border under the research title: "Discourses of cross border co-operation in Ireland in a European dimension". The research questions the production of discourses by key organisations and the impact this has on the Irish border as a concept. The research focuses on actors from the Public Sector, Private Sector and Community & Voluntary sector. For example, the research interrogates the relation between peace-building in Northern Ireland and cross border co-operation. The research will draw on theories of governance, democracy, European integration, regionalism and actorship.
