Laura began a four year full time R&D funded studentship in 2006. She completed her Masters In Social Research Methods before moving on to a three year Ph.D. Laura's research is titled "A Study of Drug Prevention Services for Young People". Her work will be closely linked to the Belfast Youth Development Study and will investigate the range and volume of drug prevention services available to young people who use illicit drugs. It is hoped that the findings of this research will provide local information to assist the Northern Ireland Targeting Social Need (TSN) policy initiative and inform effective health promotion.
