The Tangerine is a Belfast-based magazine of new writing. It covers culture and politics, and is published three times a year with features, reportage, commentary, fiction, poetry, illustration and photography. It is an example of the great initiatives by PhD students at the Seamus Heaney Centre.

Lifeboat is a platform for poets both budding and established, culminating in poetry readings, poems online and pamphlets, and is another great initiative PhD students have established.

The Open Ear Literary Journal publish poetry and prose by Queen's students and alumni. Their sixth issue is out on January 2018, featuring the best poetry and prose from QUB. Copies can be purchased in bookshops such as Bookfinders, No Alibis and Blackwell's (QUBSU).
