The winner of the Seamus Heaney Centre Prize for Poetry will be announced during the British and Irish Contemporary Poetry Conference being held in Belfast on 15-17 September 2010.

The Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry is delighted to announce the first Seamus Heaney Centre Prize for Poetry. The Prize will be awarded annually to the writer of the best first collection published in the
The Chairman of the judges for the first Seamus Heaney Centre Prize will be Professor Ciaran Carson, Director of the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry.
The shortlist of up to 5 books will be announced in June 2010. The judges will announce their final decision at a presentation at the British and Irish Contemporary Poetry Conference at the School of English, Queen’s University, 15th-17th September, 2010.
The Prize for 2010 will be £1000.
