TWO EPSRC DOCTORAL PRIZE FELLOWSHIPs
As part of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council’s (EPSRC) Doctoral Prize initiative Queen’s University Belfast is funding two research fellowships within the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EEECS). Each fellowship is available for up to 18-months.
The Doctoral Prize is intended to develop the very best EPSRC supported students beyond the end of their PhD and support their transition to independent researchers. All EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellows are expected to engage in outreach work as part of their fellowship.
Applicants are invited to propose a novel research project, within EPSRC’s academic remit: http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/funding/apprev/basics/Pages/remit.aspx, in any of the following areas: Secure Digital Systems; High Performance and Distributed Computing; Knowledge and Data Engineering; Speech Image and Vision Systems; Digital Communications; High Frequency Electronics; Energy, Power and Intelligent Control. Details of the EEECS research focus in each of these areas can be found at http://www.qub.ac.uk/schools/eeecs/Research/.
Before making an application applicants should first contact an academic member of staff (who must NOT be their PhD supervisor) within the School of EEECS to discuss their research proposal. The member of staff must be willing to support the project and agree to act as their mentor throughout. Applicants who have not carried out PhD study at the Queen’s University of Belfast are particularly encouraged to apply.
The full application should be returned by email to s.hurson@qub.ac.uk by no later than midnight on Thursday 31 October 2013.
