Examples of School Actions to help address SWAN Charter

UG level:

  • Visit >50% All-Girls Grammar Schools in NI
  • UG Peer Mentoring Scheme: Female mentors paired with female mentees where possible
  • School Ambassador Scheme to formally recognise UG Role Models that help at recruitment events
    (part of QUB Degree Plus Award)

PG level:

  • Hold Research Open Days for UG cohort
  • Offer summer internships to UG students, targeting females

PG/Post-doc Level:

  • Survey all PhD/ Post-doc students every 2 years on their experience
  • PG / Post-doc Peer Mentoring Scheme
  • Female Academic Support Team for PGs/Post-docs
  • Encourage PhD and post-doc females to attend QGI career development training courses

General:

  • Improve marketing of School’s SWAN activities
  • Timing of Meetings: Encouraged to organise meetings between 10am and 4.30pm to facilitate childcare arrangements
