We are planning to hold a Software and Electronics Taster Day at Queen’s University, as above, specifically for students who are currently in Year 13. The aim of this event is to allow you to gain an appreciation of the interaction between computer hardware and software, by undertaking a hands-on project. The event will be held in the Queen’s University Ashby Building on the Stranmillis Road (all food will be supplied). In order to qualify for this taster day, you are required to be studying A Level Maths and one other subject from: Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Electronics, Further Mathematics, Geography, ICT [not Applied], Physics or Software Systems Development, Technology & Design or Double Award Applied Science (OR Equivalent Qualifications). Please note that do you not need to have any previous experience of programming/developing software in order to attend this event.
The Schools of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, at Queen’s University will be jointly hosting the 2015 Caterpillar Engineering Summer School. This will run from 17 to 20 August 2015 and is open to students in Year 13 who are hoping to pursue a career in the Engineering Sector.
The Summer School will give applicants the opportunity to:
1. Find out more about Electrical and Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering.
2. Discover what studying at Queen's University Belfast would be like while working on real engineering challenge projects.
3. Explore the range of career opportunities on offer, with a field trip to our partner Caterpillar.
