Postgraduate Research Studentships

Fully funded DEL PhD Studentships

The School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for a number of fully funded 3 year research studentships, commencing in October 2010 in the following areas of research.

The studentships provide fees and a maintenance grant of approx £13,490 for 2010/11.

Residence Requirements for DEL Awards

DEL Studentships are available to eligible UK and EU citizens. To qualify for the full DEL award (fees and maintenance) applicants must have been resident in the United Kingdom or elsewhere in the European Union (for fees only studentships) throughout the period of 3 years immediately preceding the start of the studentship (or would have been so resident had you, your spouse or either parent not been employed temporarily outside the UK).

Academic Requirements

The required minimum academic qualification for the above studentships is a 2:1 honours degree or a qualification considered equivalent by the University e.g. a 2.2 honours degree plus a Master’s Degree at 60% or above.   The qualifications must be obtained in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.  Candidates must have official, final results of all qualifications to be used to meet the academic requirements before the start of the studentship.

PLEASE NOTE THAT NOT ALL PROJECTS ADVERTISED WILL BE FUNDED.

Applicants are therefore advised to make a separate application for each project they are interested in. Applications will be considered on a competitive basis with regard to the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience and interests, together with the available funding mechanisms.

Applications are invited to be made electronically through the Queen's online application portal at https://pg.apply.qub.ac.uk/

Please note that a separate application for funding must also be completed for each project applied to.  An application for admission to study that does not also have an application for funding may not be considered for an award.

The deadline for submission of applications is Friday 19th March 2010.
