Undergraduate Scholarships

We are pleased to offer a number of Undergraduate Scholarships for courses starting in September 2009 - 

1. Power Academy Scholarships –
     MEng or BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

The Power Academy offers scholarships (each worth approximately £22k) to students interested mainly in electrical power engineering. Queen's is one of only 7 UK universities in the Power Academy, comprising the leading universities offering electrical power engineering as part of the degree. There are 61 Scholarships available each year across the 7 member universities ie. an average of 9 Scholarships per university! 

These scholarships provide you with financial support during your studies as well as paid professional experience during a one-year placement with the company and during summer vacations.

You can apply for a Power Academy scholarship if you:

  • Have an offer to study an MEng or BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Queens University, Belfast or are already studying on one of these courses or thinking of switching.

  • Qualify for the home/EU tuition fees (scholarships are not available to students who pay tuition fees at the international level).

  • Do not hold sponsorship with any other organisation

2. Liberty IT Scholarship –
     MEng in Computer Science

The Liberty IT Scholarship at Queen's University (worth approximately £20,000) supports one student per year on the five-year MEng in Computer Science. The course is tailored to high flying students capable of playing a leading role in the computing industry in the future.

Subject to satisfactory exam results and performance in class, the bursary offers scholarship support of £1,000 a year for the four taught years of the course, and:

  • four weeks paid summer work at the end of year one
  • a guaranteed paid industrial placement in year three
  • a permanent position with Liberty IT after graduating.

How to apply:

You may apply for this Scholarship on commencing the MEng in Computer Science at Queen's.  Further information and application forms may be found on the Liberty IT website in September of each year.

 

3. Asidua Scholarship

The Asidua Scholarship at Queen's University (worth up to £25,000) supports at least one student per year and is open to students entering the following courses:

  • BSc in Computer Science
  • BEng in Computer Science
  • MEng in Computer Science
  • BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Subject to satisfactory exam results aligning with a degree classification of 2:1 or above and performance in class, the scholarship will offer support as follows:

  • £1,000 per year for each of the scheduled academic years of the course
  • At least eight weeks paid summer work between each academic year
  • A guaranteed paid industrial placement in year three
  • After completion of industrial placement, the opportunity for paid part-time work during the academic year – typically equating to 1 day per week (subject to course schedules);
  • Following an application for a permanent position and subject to success at interview, in accordance with Fair Employment legislation, a permanent position with Asidua after graduation.

4. Industry Scholarships –
     Electrical and Electronic Engineering Courses

Electrical and Electronic Engineering plans to offer further Industry Scholarships for applicants to courses for September 2010 entry.  If you would like to be considered for these Scholarships please complete the application form which can be downloaded as a PDF file by clicking on the link.

5. Queen's University Scholarships – Any Course

Queen's University is offering a number of scholarship programmes aimed at undergraduates for 2010 entry.
