New And Returning Students

Enrolment And Registration For The 2017/2018 Academic Year

NEW STUDENTS

All new students within the School of EEECS are expected to attend for Enrolment and Registration at their allocated time on Thursday 14 September 2017 in the Medical Biology Centre, 97 Lisburn Road, Belfast (at the end of Elmwood Avenue).

  1. You are required to attend on Thursday 14th September to complete your Enrolment and  Registration which will include personal details, matriculation and finances and obtaining your student card.

  2. Academic Enrolment means selecting the modules you will study during the 2017/2018 academic year.

  3. Registration is a 10 step online process. When you complete this you will receive an email to your QUB email account.

 

For students entering Level 1 (excluding BIT)

  • You will already have been enrolled onto all of your modules by the School.

  • If you are unable to attend above (extenuating circumstances only) you will be required to complete the rest of enrolment and registration by no later than the 25th September 2017.

  • Please ensure that you bring all the information requested of you by the University to complete the finance and matriculation sections of enrolment and registration.

 

For students entering Level 1 Business Information Technology

  • You will already have been enrolled on the Computer Science modules by the School, but you are still required to enrol yourself on the following Management modules:

    • MGT1009 Organisational Behaviour
    • ACC1002 Accounting
    • One additional from choice of three:-
      • ECO1007 An Introduction to Finance
      • MGT1012 Business Government and Society
      • MGT1013 Marketing
  • If you are unable to attend above (extenuating circumstances) you will be required to complete the rest of enrolment and registration by no later than the 25 September 2017.

 

Direct Entry Students Level 2

  • All Direct Entry students are expected to attend for Enrolment and Registration on Thursday 14 September 2017.

  • A special induction event for Level 2 Direct Entry students will be held at 3.30pm on Thursday 21 September in the Computer Science Building. Members of Academic staff will be available at the event to discuss any issues. Level 2 Direct Entry students are expected to attend the first session of Welcome Week on Monday 18 September.

 

International Students

  • All International Students (level 1, 2 and 3) are expected to attend for Enrolment and Registration on Thursday 14th September 2017.

  • A special induction event for all International Students (level 1, 2 and 3) will be held at 12.00pm on Thursday 21st September in the Computer Science Building. However, we would still encourage all level 1 International Students to attend the first session of Welcome Week on Monday 18th September.

  • Detailed module advice will be provided to you at the induction event on Thursday 21st September. Members of Academic staff will be available at the event to discuss any issues.

  • You will be required to complete the rest of enrolment and registration by no later than the 25th September 2017.

  • Please ensure that you bring all the information requested of you by the University to complete the finance and matriculation sections of enrolment and registration.

N.B. You MUST complete all 10 steps of the Registration Wizard before the first day of term/semester or in full by 25th September.  If you have not completed registration and enrolment by 9th October the University will start the withdrawal process and a re-admittance fee of £50 will be charged should you wish to enrol after that date.  It is imperative you contact us prior to 25th September if you have extenuating circumstances that will prevent you from completing registration on time +44 (0) 28 9097 4639.

 

RETURNING STUDENTS

All students (including those on placement) must complete both Enrolment and Registration.

Before you commence your studies you must complete Enrolment and Registration using the online Registration Wizard. The Wizard will be available to all Undergraduate students from 10am on 11th September and for Postgraduate students from 10am on 13th September.  The Registration Wizard will guide you through the process of Enrolment and Registration and will include online help on how to complete the various stages.  Please note that you must complete all 10 steps of the Registration Wizard before the first day of term/semester.

Students who meet the progression requirements to enter Level 3 can enrol themselves for the 2017/2018 academic year in Step 9 on the online QSIS registration wizard which opens on Monday 11th September.

Note:  A 'complete' enrolment is equivalent to a combination of modules totalling 120 CATS points

  • Half module = 10 CATS points
  • Full module = 20 CATS points
  • 1½ weighted module = 30 CATS points
  • Double module = 40 CATS points

 

 

Level 2 students on the following programmes have been block enrolled for all modules.

  • MEng Software Engineering
  • BEng Software Engineering
  • MEng Computer Science
  • BSc/BEng Computer Science
  • CIT

 

Level 2 students on the following programme have been block enrolled on compulsory modules. You are required to enrol on your optional modules in step 9.

  • BIT

 

If you fall into one of the below categories, you should initially contact your Advisor of Studies. 
Should you wish to attend an enrolment session to discuss your academic progression please see sessions in the box below.

  1. If you are returning from a temporary withdrawal and have not been informed that you can enrol yourself
  2. If you are a part-time student
  3. If you are changing your degree pathway and have not been informed that you can enrol yourself
  4. If you are changing from a placement to a non-placement pathway and have not been informed that you can enrol yourself
  5. If you have not passed all the modules for which you were enrolled during 2015/2016 academic year

Wednesday 20st September      10am – 12.30pm and 2pm – 4pm

Please note:

  • All EEE/SESE/CIT/BIT students should attend the Computer Science Building at 9.30am on Monday 18th September.
  • All CS/SE students should attend the Vice-Chancellors Address at 12.45pm and then at 2.00pm report to the Computer Science Building.

 

Please note:

  • There will be specific sessions held for Direct Entry L2 students and all new undergraduate International students (See Welcome Week Timetable).
