Multimedia Authoring

Course Contents

The overall aim is to introduce students to EMM from a computing perspective and to provide students with foundational knowledge and experience in the major aspects of multimedia development.

Learning Outcomes

On completing the module the student will be able to:

  • produce, acquire and manipulate different media for use in Educational Multimedia;
  • demonstrate an understanding of the design process involving functionality and aesthetics of multimedia interfaces;
  • develop courseware after completing an analysis and design;
  • apply recognised principles to production of materials;
  • critically analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of existing Educational Multimedia materials.

Skills

  • The student will demonstrate ability to produce courseware using a specified authoring tool.
  • Use visual language to communicate, analyse and interpret ideas.
  • Analyse, design and implement multimedia solutions.
  • Create and manipulate digital images, sound, video, animation and text.
  • Design and develop educational multimedia.
  • Show skills of self-management, time-management, individual and groupworking, library and research skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to listen effectively and use feedback constructively.
