Learning Outcomes

Students should be able to:

  • understand the design principles for system level modeling of systems in general and digital signal processing (DSP) systems in particular,
  • understand the semantics of dataflow modeling of embedded DSP applications,
  • differentiate the issues that determine the nature of the modeling technique and how these techniques influence the implementation,
  • appreciate the issues that arise in partitioning the system for execution on an embedded computing platforms,
  • understand techniques for scheduling the algorithm for embedded execution,
  • appreciate how modeling aspects influence the implementation,
  • and appreciate how to optimize the implementation in terms of real time performance, memory, communications bandwidth and other physical aspects.

Skills

Assimilation of lecture material and study of real applications.
