Course Contents

Basics of the "Digital Image" raster graphics. Image Processing. Pixel operations. Geometric transformations. Image compression. Custom hardware. Algorithms for 2D and 3D co-ordinate geometry. Data structures for 3D. Clipping, dithering, anti-aliasing. Hidden surface, hidden line drawing. Photo-realistic rendering - Lighting models, Phong and Gourad shading, Surface texturing and image mapping. Ray tracing. Colour models. Fractal. Scientific visualisation, Computer Animation principles.

To give an understanding of the principles that underpin today's computer graphics. With a special interest in algorithms for 3D computer visualisation and animation. To provide practical experience of using 3D computer animation software.
