Learning Outcomes

Students should be able to:

  • understand the design principles for low-power and small-footprint embedded systems;
  • differentiate the issues that arise in designing soft and hard real-time, concurrent, reactive and safety-critical embedded systems;
  • understand the various concepts of time in embedded systems;
  • understand static and dynamic scheduling mechanisms;
  • understand the additional problems associated with distributed and networked embedded systems.

Skills

Assimilation of lecture material and study of real applications.
