Course Content
This module provides an introduction to the workplace and highlights linkages between students' learning achievements and the needs of various industrial, commercial and not-for profit organisations. It makes use of the links the School has with such employers and provides reinforcement of a variety of skills related to employability. It will also make use of the various professional skills available in the university to show the range of skills that might be needed in the workplace. The prime component of the module is a research project to the specification of an external employer which is 80% of the marks. You will enter a learning contract with QUB and the employer.
Learning Outcomes
On completion you should be able to: Show how your degree programme, learning and key skills help your employability. Demonstrate your ability to present your personal and academic qualiteis effectively. Demonstrate your awareness of a range of recruitment and selection strategies. Understand a range of factors associated with employment and the workplace. Complete an agreed research project with an 'employer' outside the School.

It will be assumed that students taking this module are familiar with and understand the material addressed in GGY1005, GGY1006 and GGY2037. Students who have not taken these modules are advised to undertake the necessary additional preparation prior to taking this module.
