Archaeology From Below: Ireland 1700-1926
This research project will examine the excluded members of Irish society 1700-1922 from a historical archaeological perspective. These excluded people were generally marginalised or misrepresented within Irish written sources and neglected by later scholarship. They include the urban and rural poor, women, children and migrants. The study will employ an interdisciplinary approach, considering all relevant strands of evidence in its examination of four diverse study-areas. The aim is to highlight variation throughout Ireland.
