Gemma was awarded a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship to research ‘Geographies of ethnic and social segregation in England and Wales, 1991-2011’, and joined the School of GAP in February 2012 to take up her Fellowship. After completion of her doctoral studies on internal migration and residential segregation (by religion/community background) in Northern Ireland in the School of GAP (2008), Gemma was employed as a Research Associate at the Cathie Marsh Centre for Census and Survey Research (CCSR) at the University of Manchester. In Manchester she was involved in research on internal migration and demographic change by ethnic group in Britain. Following this, Gemma returned to Queen’s University as a Research Fellow in the Centre for Public Health, and she was involved in research on the relationship between health and segregation, and in research support for academic users of the Northern Ireland Longitudinal Study.
