John is a Geologist with over 20 years’ experience of practical research working with interdisciplinary teams across the earth sciences in the School of Geography, Archaeology and Paleoecology at Queens University Belfast.
His expertise lies in using a variety of 3D laser scanning technologies to map, monitor and visualize the built and natural environment across a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. His recent research and publications have focused on the development of an integrated scientific approach to monitoring sites by combining a broad range of technologies into a ‘Non-destructive scientific toolkit’; studying the catastrophic decay of building stone under complex environmental regimes; the digital documentation of Heritage Sites for a number of managerial, geological, geographical, archaeological and educational applications.
