“As an international student I looked at several different universities before choosing Queen's. Obviously, language restricted my choice to a limited number of countries, but the diversity available to me was still vast. Queen's stood out, mainly because of their combination of archaeology and palaeoecology. Past environments was, and is, one of my main academic interests. The school offers a wide range of modules in this field, including dendrochronology, pollen analysis and radiocarbon dating. Almost a year has passed and nothing here has made me regret my decision. The lectures and tutorials are top notch, practicals and fieldtrips just add to the overall experience. Guest lecturers and open seminars gives anyone who wants it a great opportunity for further knowledge, something that I have really appreciated.

As for the city, I have had a real good time living in Belfast. The size of the city combined with the location of campus makes it easy to get from point A to B, walking or catching a bus. There is plenty to do, both activities tied to the university and outside, and with a capital city just two hours to the south it is hard to get bored. People have been very friendly as well and it did not take long until I had new friends. Overall, it has been a great experience and I look forward to the next two years. I would recommend anyone with an interest in the field, to consider ARCPAL at Queen's.”

"I choose Queen's firstly for the prestige the university holds; but the more I found out about the Archaeology/Palaeoecology department the more impressed I was. The lecturers and staff are really approachable and always seem to be trying to find ways to help the students. As the building is off the main site you get a better feel for the department and become friendly with students in various levels of study. I'm certain if I attended a different university/course I wouldn't enjoy it as much. Gerard first year BSc"
