Gender Equality Office

The Gender Equality Office was launched in September 2011 and the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences has become the first area within Queen’s to set up its own office dedicated to gender equality.

The Gender Equality Office is located in the Health Sciences Building on the MBC campus and please contact Professor Barbara McDermott, Director (b.mcdermott@qub.ac.uk) or Natasha O’Reilly (natasha.oreilly@qub.ac.uk) with any queries. Currently, Dr Karen McCloskey is Acting Director and can be contacted at: k.mccloskey@qub.ac.uk.

The Gender Equality Office in the School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences is closely linked with the Queen’s Gender Initiative, which supports women’s career opportunities across the University.

Gender Equality GOOD PRACTICE IN SCHOOLS

Examples from Athena SWAN award winners

This booklet presents examples of good practice in supporting women’s academic careers (pdf). It has its genesis in the sharing of ideas and practices across the sciences generated by the University’s and Schools’ commitment to supporting women in science.

The links on the right will give you more information about all of the events and initiatives that we are involved in and also useful links for funding opportunities and women in science and technology.
