The Gender Equality Office was launched in September 2011 and the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences has become the first area within Queen’s to set up its own office dedicated to gender equality.
Dr Karen McCloskey is the newly appointed Director of Gender Equality for the School and can be contacted at (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The School was awarded an Athena SWAN Silver Award, which is valid for 3 years to April 2016 and the application can be viewed here Athena SWAN Award Application.
The Gender Equality Office in the School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences is closely linked with the Queen’s Gender Initiative, which supports women’s career opportunities across the University.

The booklet presents examples of good practice in supporting women’s academic careers (pdf). It has its genesis in the sharing of ideas and practices across the sciences generated by the University’s and Schools’ commitment to supporting women in science.
