Medicine Event 2019

We are pleased to advise that The School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Science will once again be running our very successful Medicine at Queen’s Open Day in The Medical Biology Centre at Queen’s and we would like to invite you to attend. 


Medicine at Queen's Open Day 
Date: Friday 12th April 2019
Time: 9am - 4pm
Venue: Medical Biology Centre, Lisburn Road 

We will also create a waiting list for future events and we can email you in advance of the next Medicine Open Day.

This event will provide you with the opportunity to:

  • Hear from the Admissions Lead for Medicine - Dr. Inez Cooke
  • Hear from different academics about different career opportunities and working life in General Practice or as a Pathologist or Surgeon
  • Interactive Activities in Anatomy, Physiology and Clinical Skills
  • Speak with current students about their personal experiences and gain a real insight into what student life at Queen's could be like for you
  • View state of the art learning facilities
  • Meet the academics and ask any questions you may have about Medicine as a career
  • Find out more about studying Medicine at Queen's including course content, hours of study, and assessment methods.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most frequently asked questions below.. 

  • Do I have to wear my school uniform? 

There is no requirement by Queen's Medical School to wear uniforms, we are happy for students to come in their normal clothing unless directed otherwise by their school. 


  • Do I have to register via my Careers Teacher? 

We will send all schools and career teachers notification of the event by letter and email, and they will distribute this information around Year 13 students.  Sending an email or letter to book multiple spaces will not be accepted, all registrations must be done via our online booking form and students can go on and do this themselves. 


  • How do I know if I have booked? 

You will receive an automated reply to acknowledge receipt of booking, please do not book more than once in order to avoid duplication. 


  • Why can't I register?

If you cannot register via our form it means we have reached capacity and registrations have now closed.  If you are still interested please email we will add your name to our reserve list. 


  • Do I have to bring my own lunch? 

 We will provide lunch for all those attending, please let us know if you have any dietary requirements in advance via the registration form. 


  • What time does Medicine at Queen's finish?

Registration opens at 9am (please be on time to register) and the first workshop will start at 9.30am.  It is expected that this event will be an all day event, and we will aim to finish at 4pm.  


  • Is this event only for school pupils? 

Medicine at Queen's Open Day is for Year 13 school students with an interest in studying Medicine for 2020 entry only.  


  • I booked a place but I can't attend - what should I do? 

If you are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, please let us know as soon as possible, as there is likely to be a waiting list of students eager to attend.
