Congratulations to John Devaney and colleagues.  Their £264k research award from NSPCC and ESRC will see children who are living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of abuse and neglect benefit from a new study which will assess the benefits of an intervention known as ‘Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behaviour Therapy’.  The project will be conducted in partnership with Extern, the leading social justice charity on the island of Ireland. Commenting on the award, John Devaney said: ‘There is clear evidence that children who have been abused or neglected go on to experience problems including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, substance abuse and aggressive behaviour. Crucially, there is also evidence that the right interventions, delivered at the right time, can benefit these young people and significantly improve their life outcomes.’
