Our Social Work team and their WHSCT colleagues were delighted to be presented with the Team Award for Learning and Development as part of the WHSCT Social Work Awards in Derry on 16 May. The award was for the Association of Family Therapy accredited Systemic Practice Foundation partnership programme between Queen's University and WHSCT, delivered to 19 frontline Social Workers across child and adult services in 2015-16. This pilot training initiative was part of the Trust’s overall strategy to invest in workforce skill development to deliver and expand their innovative Safety in Partnership model. This systemic approach to child protection aims to work collaboratively with families and other professionals to improve shared decision making and safety planning.
The teaching team was led by School of SSESW academic Suzanne Mooney and Jennifer McKinney, WHSCT, and included Daron Askin (WHSCT) and Gavin Davidson (School of SSESW). This programme is due to run again this coming academic year.
We in the School are very pleased to be part of these pioneering social work developments. For further information on all our systemic practice and family therapy programmes, see http://bit.ly/2nJgLji
