The Institute of Electronics, Communications and Information Technology is host to the award winning UK Innovation & Knowledge Centre for cyber security, The Centre for Secure Information Technologies, ECIT also houses The Centre for Wireless Innovation and The Centre for Data Science and Scalable Computing.

At ECIT, our researchers are on a mission to make the changing global digital space both safer and faster. Our experts are always one step ahead and are developing cutting-edge solutions to communicate even faster but in a safe and secure way.

2004: ECIT launched

2008: CSIT chosen as an Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC)

2015: CSIT awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education

2016: ECIT awarded GRI status by QUB

2017:

  • Professor Sir John McCanny received a knighthood in recognition for his services to higher education and economic development
  • £5M UK Hardware Security Institute (RISE) launched at ECIT
  • ECIT researches win Mobile World Scholar Challenge
  • Professor Máire O’Neill awarded prestigious Blavatnik Award
